Idea Village at the Enterprise Center offers pre-incubation services including access to a 12 week self paced, group coaching format for commercializing your IDEA, by coaches certified in the Wendy Kennedy, So what? who cares? why you?® methodology.

So what? who cares? why you?® is a commercialization methodology that helps pre-venture entrepreneurs discover the viability and commercial opportunity of a new business idea or concept. This pre-incubation program uses visual and hands-on tools to place the raw idea into a commercial context and also gives entrepreneurs next steps towards commercialization.

Ultimately, the program should help entrepreneurs to answer three main questions:

SO WHAT?

What is the business problem you're solving and how "burning" is that problem? If the idea has a real opportunity, in what market space does it fit?

WHO CARES?

Is there a cluster of potential customers that are willing to pay money to solve this problem? If so, how do you plan to reach them?

WHY YOU?

What makes your idea different? What is your competitive edge how do you plan to sustain it?

The program is designed for a group setting in which WT Enterprise Center staff work directly with entrepreneurs and founders. The collaborative work space makes for a dynamic process that allows for full potential of the idea to be discovered. The So what? who cares? why you? program includes the following resources:

  • A step-by-step methodology that empowers you to discover and articulate the commercial opportunity for your idea
  • Practical tips, visual tools and worksheets designed to systematically step you through the process – no business experience required
  • Examples and case studies from real-world commercialization success stories to help you learn to apply the tools
  • Online Toolshed with templates, tutorials, and continuously updated resources
  • Expert coaching support to guide you through the methodology and help you develop valuable skills in thecommercialization process

So what? who cares? why you? Commercialization Clinics provide an interactive, high-energy environment to help you
discover the commercial value for your idea. With guidance from a So what? who cares? why you? Certified Coach, you will:

  • Collaborate with a small group of 6-10 inventors at the early stages of commercialization
  • Gain practical, hands-on experience drilling down into each tool using your own idea
  • End each session with a completed worksheet, outcome and take-aways from the discussion
