The ultimate goal of incubation is to launch profitable, sustainable, entrepreneurial companies. Graduation is determined cooperatively, based on mastery of core business functions that include time, money and delivery, market development, creation of support systems, and the formation of a sustainable management team. Virtual Drive
Virtual Drive is an external client of the WTAMU Enterprise Center. After helping their teenagers through the daunting process of parent-taught driver education, founders Kevin and Eliza Knapp created a software tool to provide online driver education and certification throughout the United States. Their online driver education program is now an industry leader in the market for parent-taught driver education, and it’s recognized in several states as the only online source for driver education. The WTAMU Enterprise Center has facilitated the growth of the company by providing access to service providers within the network. Recently, Dave Rausch, associate professor of Political Science at WTAMU, conducted a survey of Virtual Drive customers to test the effectiveness of the software program in training student drivers. After participation in the Virtual Drive course, 90 percent of students passed their driving exams on the first attempts; the survey also shows a dramatic contract in the safe driving habits of students who took the Virtual Drive course versus the State of Texas Course 101.
